This is a book I enjoyed to the hilt. A good love story that had a groom very much in love with his wife. A groom who hasn't had sex with every female in the kingdom. And of course the bride was a virgin even if she was a widow. Go figure ! Two people who had problems and solved them without getting to the place where they hurt each other, separated, had sex with other lovers, and all the other stuff that gets so nauseating after a while. This series has been a great read for me. I like the way this author writes and the plots and characters continue throughout the series. It made for a very interesting read for me. Looking forward to the next series.
I think this was a very sweet stroy. I enjoy Ruth Ann Nordin's books, they are sweet and light readings when I wish to escape reality for a couple of hours. The story is fairly predictable, but I think the hero was simply amazing. He was such a gentleman, deeply in love with the heroine from the start and he was so tender with her. I love reading stories where the heroes are tender and caring with the heroine. I recommend it if you want a light romantic story with no action or suspense.

Marriage by Deceit Series Book Four
Orlando Emmett, the Earl of Reddington, fell in love over a year ago. He is still in love and now she's a widow. He is ready to throw all of the Ton's rules out the window. He could care less about her needing to mourn a year. He's already waited a year, he is not about to wait again and chance losing her to any other man. He has a plan.
Chloe, Lady Hawkins, had been married for a year to a man she never really knew. He left for business after their marriage...and will never be returning. She has envied her friends as they found love matches and enjoyed every single part of being married, while she had to do what was best for her family.
The story moves fairly quickly in the beginning. Orlando and his plan. Chloe jumping on board with his plan. I knew it couldn't be this easy for the couple. I was right.
Many of the previous characters from this series are revisited and there is more to come in the next series; Marriage by Arrangement. Chloe, Helena and Melissa join together to help other couples find the happiness they have.
**Sexual content within marriage
Chloe marries and her husband leaves without making her his own. Lord Hawkins dies before they ever start a marriage. Orlando the Lord of Reddington has loved her from afar and waits to long to speak to her before she had married Hawkins. He sees his chance now with Chloe and he takes it. This is very sweet to see how when you really want someone to have and to hold and love forever in your life you act on it.
All her life Chloe's parents told her what to do, what to wear, who to talk to. After the husband they chose for her dies, will Chloe be brave enough to make her own decisions? And will climbing into a carriage with a man she barely knows and going to Gretna Green to marry him be a wise choice? I highly recommend this darling novel of a young woman uncertain of her own worth and the man who has long loved her from the sidelines. I am never surprised when it comes to Ruth Ann Nordin’s books. I love her style and I love the stories. Not sure what it is about her books but while I am reading I am always wondering about other characters as well. Makes the books so enjoyable for me. I’m always guessing.
After reading the first book in this series I felt for The earl of Reddington. So of course once his story was out I had to skip to it to see if he finally finds his love. Orlando and Chloe’s love to me is a “Love at first sight kinda love. Chloe’s first husband has died and Orlando finds it his top priority to express his feelings to Chloe. Will Chloe share Orlando’s feeling?
I really enjoyed this book. I love their love story. I love his devotion to a woman he hardly knows. The whole time I was reading I could not help but think. What is her first husband was not dead. Like i said sometimes I think about other characters as well.
I would suggest this book to friends.
Finally, a second chance at love type of story, where the man does the pining. I have to celebrate that. This story was definitely, not perfect, the plot was simplistic, and the conflict in it, I could not take seriously, yet I enjoyed this book very, very much, I absolutely love that this book had a hero who was not a rake, and a heroine who was beautiful and was generally admired. I hate books about wall flowers and/or spinsters, where the heroine is only wanted by the hero. I also loved that the heroine did not dwel about how her body reacted when ever she was near the hero, constantly twiching and pulling "here and there" in uncontrolable lust. This heroine had the presence of mind (when she realize the need for it) to remember to practice birth control, usually in all romance stories (of any genre) it is the hero who remembers, never the She.
However, there were two aspects of this book, I did not like. I love for the hero to be an alpha, and for the heroine NOT to be a doormat. The heroine was definitely a doormat, but I was very grateful, that if she had to be one, she was not one with the hero, but rather her parents. And though Orlando was not very forceful, I still liked him. I'll sacrifice alpha any day, if the price I have to pay for it, is reading about a hero who bullies the heroine, and is stubornly determined not to love her. Therefore, for me this book was great!
